Fund-Raising
Our efforts in recent years
2015Raising money to buy a defibrillator, to site in the village High Street, by the following means:
a member's 'yard' sale a pub quiz a stall at the flower show a flower arranging demo: a coffee morning a raffle the donated proceeds from a carol service a local church's book sales street collections, etc. etc. A total of £3100!!! Lady Gooch, High Sheriff of Wiltshire, unveiled the public defibrillator and plaque.
The W.I. chose to raise money to buy and install a defibrillator in rural Shrewton. The device helps in case of a cardiac arrest emergency and, together with C.P.R. , could save life. 2010 - raising money to buy children's gardening equipment for our new primary school. |
2016The Salisbury Hospice is our charity for the year 2016.
We made a profit of more than £340 at a village coffee morning. With the proceeds from the Horticultural Show we have, so far, made more than £2000 for the charity. The end of our fund-raising for 2016 was realised today when a group of us presented a cheque to the Salisbury hospice charity for a massive £2160.

The Till Valley Horticultural Show 2016
Shrewton W.I. always participates in village events, and the annual Till Valley Horticultural Show is no exception. We have a stall to raise funds. Occasionally for ourselves but, more often than not, our efforts focus on our featured charity. This year we raised £300 for the Salisbury Hospice. |

2015 Raising money by playing games.

2013 - A handicraft stall.
2017 Our two charities for the year are:
The Salisbury Women's Refuge
Barnabas House - sheltered accommodation for vulnerable homeless women
2018 -Fundraising for Julia's House Hospice in Devizes
October 2022 - fundraising in order to maintain our village Defibrillator

A 'Cuppa and Cake' event was organised, for the afternoon of Wednesday 19th October, with the aim of raising funds towards the maintenance of the defibrillator purchased for the community by Shrewton W.I. back in 2015.
There was a raffle and 'Bring and Buy' sale as well as the opportunity to drink tea and eat delicious cake which members had generously baked and donated.
To help illustrate the need, Sarah had brought along the whole defibrillator 'kit' so people could see for themselves what a great asset it is to the village.
We raised more than £200. Well done to all those who took part.
