2024 - 2025 Committee
There are several positions or ‘officer roles’ on the Committee.
The President, who is responsible for the overall running of her WI is elected through a ballot of all members and at the AGM on Wednesday 10th April 2024, Hilary Hall was elected President. Hilary had previously served for over ten years at the WI Treasurer and we know will bring great experience, leadership and enthusiasm.
The other officers elected by Committee members include:
The Secretary ensures Committee and WI business is carried out correctly and efficiently. Sandie Robinson, who held the role in 2023-2024 has been re-elected and will continue her sterling work.
The Treasurer oversees her WI’s accounts and gives financial advice to the Committee. We are delighted to welcome Julia Kirkland to this role and although this is her first year on the Shrewton WI committee she brings a wealth of highly relevant professional business experience.
The Vice President supports the President and other officers. Karen Allen has been elected our Vice-President and will also lead on Programme Planning and Organisation.
Making our members feel welcome is essential and we are very lucky that our former President, Dianne Robinson, has agreed to stay on and lead our Welcome and Hostess Teams.
Great record keeping and communication with our members is also vital therefore we have appointed Juliet Bleasdale to be our Minute Secretary and Monthly Newsletter Editor. Juliet has been writing our newsletter for several months now and is wonderful with words therefore we were so pleased she agreed to take on the Minute Secretary role too.
With a smaller Committee this year we recognised that bringing roles together would provide the opportunity for improved ways of doing business. Our Minute Secretary from last year, Gillian Wren, is bringing together all aspects of social media communications and publicity into a single role and will be our Publicity and Social Media Officer.
Whilst we like to be innovative and have a wide range of activities, our regular Craft Workshops, for participants of all abilities, have been immensely popular. We have a very full and diverse programme of workshops and are thrilled to have Gemma Sharrock as our lead Workshop Planner and Organiser.
