Queen Elizabeth the second's platinum jubilee
The national celebrations to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee took place during June 2022. Shrewton W.I. decided to plant a tree to commemorate this fantastic milestone, but the Summer was not a good time as most of the country was in a state of drought.
The tree - a flowering cherry 'Pink Perfection' - was ordered and plans were made to do the planting at a later date.
Tuesday 22nd November 2022 was the day chosen and members were asked to meet on the grass at Meadway to witness Jean and Dianne carrying out the planting.
A toast was made and the tree now stands, with its plaque, as a beautiful reminder of the seventy year reign of Queen Elizabeth the second.
